Ponies

Edna (who was originally call Diana I believe after the former Princess of Wales but she wasn’t a royalist so I changed her name) is thirty something. She is a Dales pony and has been a central part of my life throughout my adulthood. I use to ride her with my dogs, one of whom would cadge a lift and ride on her back, but she is retired now. She is a lazy mare who never uses an ounce energy more than she has to but can put a spurt on when the food bucket arrives.

A chance encounter on a remote road in the outer Hebrides introduced me to dentally-challenged Denzil (my name), a wild Shetland pony roaming a nature reserve in South Uist.
