Pigeons

I have always thought that pigeons get a raw deal. They are very caring parents who pair for life and respond well to being handled by people. The PDSA Dickin medal was given to 32 pigeons for displaying conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty in WW2. Of all the animals I have nursed they are the most determined to live. Where others give up, they strive to survive whatever is thrown at them. I really respect them.

The pigeons I photographed were all orphans who had to be hand reared so were used to me handling them although I tried to keep it to a minimum.

That said there was a lot of poo during each session.
